Craniosacral Supports Healthy Breastfeeding

nursing.jpgCraniosacral Therapy is an effective therapy for breastfeeding challenges with newborns, infants, and toddlers. A spectrum of breastfeeding challenges can be treated with Craniosacral bodywork including poor latch, sucking issues, reflux, colic, painful nipples, unwillingness to nurse, or a baby who experienced a challenging labor, birth, or first days.

Craniosacral therapy is a gentle bodywork modality utilizing light touch to release restrictions and promote optimal health. The practitioner uses light touch and high perception to facilitate balance in the craniosacral system. Babies are extremely responsive to craniosacral, and sessions for infants are usually only 10-30 minutes, much shorter than an adult would need.

Craniosacral balances the body, mind, heart, and spirit. It is extremely relaxing to recieve Craniosacral. Through the balancing of the craniosacral system, positive effects are created in the central nervous system, hormones, musculo-skeletal systems, circulatory system, and more. There are no side-effects for baby.

The La Leche League recommends Craniosacral Therapy for breastfeeding support, as do many other medical, midwifery, and breastfeeding health care leaders.
